What I Ate at Disney World
Disney World is filled with attractions to see, rides to ride, shows to watch, details to spot, and characters to meet. It is fun, exhilarating, and sometimes even overwhelming. But, somewhere in there, you have to find time to eat. And, in true Disney style, even the food is well thought out. Pretzels? Mickey-shaped… Hollywood Studios restaurants? Themed after old-school drive-in movies… Treats at the Polynesian Resort? Pineapple flavored delights…. These are just a few of our favorite Disney World eats.

Mac & Cheese
The Friar’s Nook (Magic Kingdom)
Lunchtime at Disney World Magic Kingdom? Check out one of their best-kept secrets. Sitting on the balcony of Pinocchio Village Haus. Instead of going inside like everyone else, walk up the stairs on the right side and pick a table on the balcony. The view of the castle is awesome, and you get to watch all the hustle and bustle below. We ordered the pulled pork Mac & Cheese at The Friar’s Nook and brought it over here to enjoy. The Mac & Cheese was delicious and the setting provided a good escape from the crowds.
Buffalo Chicken Chips
Trilo-Bites (Animal Kingdom)
It rained a lot when we were at Animal Kingdom, and that meant we did a lot of eating and drinking. One of our favorite eats was the loaded buffalo chicken chips from Trilo-Bites. They were delicious! It has a huge portion of crispy crunchy chips piled with shredded buffalo chicken, creamy blue cheese chunks, and arugula. Then the whole thing is drizzled with ranch dressing. Yum! To make it even better, we took them to the covered eating area behind Flame Tree BBQ. It has a great view of Mount Everest!

Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater (Hollywood Studios)
For lunch at Hollywood Studios, we ended up at one of the coolest restaurants I’ve ever eaten in. The Sci-Fi DIne-In Theater Restaurant. You get to sit in an old 60s car and watch classic movie clips while eating. And, did I mention you get free popcorn?!? The only downside was the food wasn’t spectacular. Our veggie burger was on the bland side and quite dry. The sweet potato fries were a bit under-cooked. However, the booze-infused milkshakes were amazing! Go here for an absolute unique dining atmosphere.
Fresh Salmon Wrap
Yesake (Disney Springs)
If you go Disney World, you will probably end up at Disney Springs. There are sooo many food choices here, but one of my favorites is Yesake. Neither of us had ever heard of it the first time we found it, but the fresh salmon wrap looked good, so we figured we would give it a go. Simply Delicious! The salmon and veggies (we got lettuce, carrots, and onions) were super fresh, and the sesame ginger dressing was the perfect accompaniment.
BBQ Pork Waffle Fries
Golden Oak Outpost (Disney World Magic Kingdom)
The Golden Oak Outpost in Magic Kingdom really surprised me. First of all, there were zero people in line when we stopped by. And, second, the food was delicious and plentiful for a reasonable price. We got piping hot and crispy waffle fries loaded with shredded barbeque pork and coleslaw. The BBQ was better than what I had at a real restaurant outside the park the previous week. Score!
Mickey Pretzel
Everywhere in Disney World
You will be hard-pressed not to find a Mickey Pretzel at Disney World. They are everywhere. We tried one at Hollywood Studios on our way to Fantasmic. It was a quick and delicious snack to enjoy while waiting for the show to start. Hot and salty dipped in ooey gooey cheese. Love it! They aren’t very substantial though. If you eat it for dinner, you might find yourself buying a box of popcorn afterward…
Mickey Ice Cream
Disney World Magic Kingdom – Street Vendor
You have to get Mickey Mouse ears ice cream when you are at the Magic Kingdom. No exceptions! They are a great way to cool down, and they are fun! Each Mickey Mouse shaped chocolate dipped vanilla ice cream stick is only $4.25 each, and the quality is pretty good. We ordered at the street vendor near The Hall of Presidents, and they only had the plain kind. Later in the day, I saw others were selling the crunchy kind for the same price. Darn!
Dole Whip Swirl
Pineapple Lanai (Polynesian Resort)
Another Disney World staple is the Dole Whip Swirl. They do sell it in the parks, but we first found it at the Polynesian Resort. After seeing it, we knew we had to try it. A mix of pineapple and vanilla soft serve. The creamy vanilla is perfect with the sweet buy slightly tangy pineapple. Yummm!!! You better believe we get it every time we see it now.
Dole Whip Float
Aloha Isle (Magic Kingdom)
Speaking of Dole Whip, they also have a Dole Whip Float. What?!? The float is essentially Dole Whip with pineapple juice at the bottom. What makes this combination absolutely delicious is once you get to the bottom and can mix the soft serve and the pineapple juice on your spoon. The sweetness of the soft serve along with the liquid goodness of the juice is just a match made in heaven! Make sure you split one with somebody as it’s a quite a lot of sugar for one person to have.

Joy of Tea (Epcot)
When at Epcot, a lot of adults have the goal of trying drinks in every country. So what’s one to do when the booze is making you drowsy? Coffee. But not any coffee. Boozey coffee. And why not add a kick of tea too? That’s exactly what we did. We ordered the Tipsy Ducks in Love at the Joy of Tea. It’s a creamy cold tea and coffee combo blended with bourbon and chocolate. Besides being tastey, who can resist that name?
