Seattle Packing List (Winter Edition)
Seattle’s winters are chilly and rainy. January is typically the coldest month with an average high of 47F and an average low of 36F. Of course, it can be colder, warmer, rainy, snowy, or sunny. When we visited in December, the highs were in the 30s a couple days and in the 40s the rest of the time. At night, it was quite chilly. And, it rained a lot. With that in mind, here was my Seattle packing list (winter edition) for 1 week.
Clothing
- 2 Pairs jeans (wore one on the plane)
- 1 Sweater
- 1 Sweatshirt (that I bought in Seattle because it was super cute)
- 1 Fancy top (for NYE)
- 3 Long sleeve shirts
- 2 T-shirts
- 7 Pairs underwear
- 2 Bras
- Pajamas
Outerwear
- Columbia 2-in-1 Waterproof Jacket (important that it is warm and waterproof)
- Beanie (for the times I was only wearing the inner jacket layer with no hood)
- Gloves (thin and water resistant)
- Scarf (doubled as a blanket on the red-eye home)
Shoes/socks
- Keen’s Elsa Winter Boots (Waterproof)
- Black flats (for dressier occasions or when I was tired of boots)
- 7 Pairs of socks (mostly wool because of the rainy, wet weather)
Toiletries

Electronics
- Cell/charger
- Camera/normal lens/zoom lens/spare battery/battery charger/spare card/cleaning cloth
Miscellaneous
- Book (Current read: From Silk to Silicon)
- Compact umbrella (mainly for Nisheet because he doesn’t have a waterproof jacket, gasp!)
- Case Logic camera bag (to carry camera and extra lens and act as a day bag)
- Earbuds (a must for watching movies on the plane)
- MemorySoft travel pillow (for the red-eye home)
- Passport (for quick trips to Canada)
- Credit card with zero foreign transaction fees (for quick trips to Canada)
- Swim suit (for hotel in Canada)
